At some events (usually weddings) a signing board is used instead of a guestbook. I would draw a portrait of the guest(s) of honor which would be framed by your with an especially wide matting on which people could sign their names and write meaningful or funny words. The artwork comes unframed. These are the standard opening sizes when you buy a signing frame:
